The Trip Begins!
We braved the rain and snow to pack up Shelly, the RV. Alayna helped me make the bed. She is just the right size to get in the way back and pull those sheets up! She was so precious telling me how much she would miss me and wanted to come with. So, I asked if she would really be ok being gone since "home" is here favorite place. She responded, "Well, home is my favorite place, but I also LOVE camping". LOL Isaiah was busy riding his bike and helping Papa load the back.
We woke on November 8, 2023, to cold and rain and snow. We loaded the remaining items and hit the road at 8:30 am. Before 9:00 am we had our first souvenir... A big rock hit dead middle of the passenger window!
No time to fret. Continued on and about 9:30 am I used my mobile app to order our McDonald's breakfast from the Ishpeming location. I called to let them know that we were about an hour out, to which the young lady replied that it was not a problem. With the wind and weather, we arrived at just 10:30. Our order could not be found and it was now past the 10:30 breakfast cut off. The manager was very kind and did get our order for us. I love that McDonald's! We try to go there whenever we are in the area.
Once we got passed Marquette, the weather seemed to clear up some. But the winds were 35-49 mph at the Mackinac Bridge. The Lake looked cold!
Our first night in Shelly went fairly well, other than the sagging middle of the bed that we found out the support had fallen out! That is now fixed! It's all a learning curve all over again!
We were on the road again about 9:30. Heading to Monroe, Michigan to visit some more friends we haven't seen in awhile. We had sunny weather, although it was a very windy day! We made our first stop at Bob Evan's , Midland. Thank you Cynthia for the great service! On to Rick and Marni's where we were treated to delicious white chili and brownies. Their house is adorable! They have been fixing up a house built in 1860! So cool!
Safe travels!!!
