Day 3 - No Place to Be

 June 29, 2026

It rained overnight...we were able to sleep listening to the sounds of thunder and  raindrops tapping on the windows.  Pure peace...






Off to a late start, Rick took Archie out and  braved the mosquitoes the rain left behind.  On their walk he found some beautiful foliage!



A quiet afternoon, FINISHING the puzzle!



Finished our dinner and  now the sun has made its debut.  Along with some pretty strong winds! The waves are cranking!  Temps are cool and  the peace continues.  

The cabin we are staying in is quite solid.  The owners built it back in 1998 and  they built it to stand the test of time.  We are already planning our next visit!

 June 27, 2026 It has been just over a year since our "retirement." I've never been particularly fond of that word. I don't believe God ever calls us to what we define as retirement. Instead, I believe this season of life is an invitation to devote more time to serving others—to volunteer, to spend quality time with family and friends, to share the gifts God has given us, and, most importantly, to spend more time with Him. Not that these things shouldn't always be priorities. But during the years of building careers and raising families, they are often the very things that get pushed aside—especially our quiet time with God. Day 2 - Nothing we HAVE to do!

 June 28, 2026 An amazing day of rest!  A late breakfast followed by time for me to do some studying and writing while Rick and Archie went fishing.  I had the ability participate via Zoom in Around the Yarn World in 80 Minutes with Shelley Brander @KnitStars.  They are beginning their 11th season and the Artists are always amazing! Rick grilled steak and potatoes For dinner …Yum!  We also started a puzzle. It’s not very big, but will we get it done?   French Silk pie for dessert and an evening of knitting before the sunset ❤️

Who's in your boat?

Sunday brought us together with another friend from Rick's old job in Fort Wayne.  We all had a wonderful lunch at Salvatori's  in New Haven, Indiana (we were introduced to Salvador's by our old friends Ken & Tami years ago!).  It was great to catch up!  Sometimes it seems that no time has passed at all.  Thanks to our "driver" we were able to drive past the places we lived between 1989 & 2003! Now I am motivated to find our old photo albums and find pics of all the work Rick did when we lived in these locations.  Our houses could have been shown in Better Homes & Gardens with all of his meticulous landscaping.  Sorry to say, that is all gone:(   It was now time to head back and pack up for our Monday departure.
